Heathers – Youth Theatre Northwest

HEATHERS THE MUSICAL:

HIGH SCHOOL EDITION

March 3 - 26

Directed by Mimi Katano
Musical Direction by Heather MacLaughlin Garbes and Peter Garbes

Based on the popular film in the 80s, Heathers The Musical: High School Edition is a story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the new kid J.D. who has a dark past. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s butt… but J.D. has another plan for that bullet. Heathers The Musical: High School Edition is a black comedy that deals with a variety of topics that maybe upsetting or triggering. While some of the language has been altered from the original version for teen actors and audiences, the characters, issues, and the plot is exactly the same. Please make sure to visit our website YouthTheatre.org ahead to time to determine if this is suitable for you/your child to see.

Content note:
Please be advised that Heathers includes explicit language, the use of a smoke machine, handguns, simulated gunshots and explosions, and depictions of suicide and school violence.

YTN has taken appropriate measures to discuss these issues with the actors involved in the production as well as looking out for their mental health in the process so that everyone feels comfortable performing the show.
