This week we combine all three elements of musical theatre and take on songs, dances, and scenes centering around the dramatic lives of the children of famous villains in the Disney film series Descendants!

Comedy Improv

Love to crack up your family and friends? Ready to take your gift for comedy to the next level? In this class, students will hone improv skills through games and exercises designed to get you thinking on your feet, working as an ensemble, and gaining confidence as you discover--it’s okay to fail. (But be sure to fail two more times too - rule of threes!)

Scenes from Star Wars

Do or do not, there is no try. So, may the Force be with us as students explore the universe of Star Wars to learn the basics of acting, movement, and storytelling. Students will work together to create original scenes, inspired by the characters, stories, and worlds from a galaxy far, far away.

WINTER

PlayLab: 10-Minute Play

Tuesdays, 1/16-3/12/24 (No 2/20)

In YTN's PlayLab, students will work together to make a script come to life. These young actors are going delve into a brand-new work! Using only minimal design elements in their final performance, PlayLab puts the focus on the story for this introduction to stage acting. Students will learn character development, script analysis, and acting fundamentals to produce a short script performance for the last day of class.

This Is Me!

Thursdays, 1/18-3/14/24 (No 2/22)

Run away with the circus and sing, dance, and act your way toward becoming a triple threat! This class combines all three elements of musical theatre and take on songs, dances, and scenes from the hit: The Greatest Showman. Acting, character work, and scene analysis come together under the big top to explore this modern classic.

Wednesdays, 1/17-3/13/24 (No 2/21)

Join Atreyu, an orphan hero, and his friend Falkor, the Luck Dragon, as they embark on a great quest to save the world of Fantastica. Full of unique characters in a fanciful world, students will use script selections from The Neverending Story to learn about script analysis, character study, and the basics of stage performance.

Seussical KIDS

Grades 3rd-8th

Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays, 4/23-6/8/24

Tu/Th 4:00-6:00pm, Sat 9:30am-12:30pm

Tech Week Rehearsals: June 3-6, 6:00-9:00pm

Performances: June 7 and 8 at 7:00pm

The YTN Performance Series: everyone is cast and the session culminates in a full production. Students work together to create basic production elements using items from home, YTN stock, and their own creations. Sometimes we share the stage with another show, sometimes it’s all our own, the adventure changes every session keeping us on our toes and presenting endless opportunities for creative problem solving and teamwork.

“Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Young performers will be excited to portray the characters from the popular Dr. Seuss books. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!”

MARVEL-ous Scene Study

Wednesdays, 4/24-6/5/24

Grades 2nd-5th

It’s time to put the super in superhero! Students will develop theatre skills, teamwork worthy of being an Avenger, and the bravery of The Blank Panther while devising original scripts inspired by characters and stories from the Marvel cinematic universe. Our imaginations can create heroes and villains both familiar and never-before seen. 

Tuition: $250

Refund & Cancellation Policy:

YTN will refund tuition less the 25% non-refundable deposit (up to $100) for registrations cancelled at least 1 week prior to the start of a class or camp. Registrations cancelled less than a week prior to the start date will not be refunded. 

YTN reserves the right to cancel a class (in instances of insufficient enrollment or for other reasons out of the organization's control). In this case, any tuition paid will be refunded in full, including the registration fee. YTN will notify families 1 week prior to the beginning of class if cancellation is necessary.

No refund or make-up dates will be provided for classes cancelled due to inclement weather.

Covid-19 Specific Cancelation Policies:

If government guidelines change or if quarantine is required, YTN classes and camps automatically transfer to an online format. Refunds will not be granted in this case or in cases where families wish to withdraw due to changing Covid policies (such as mask mandates, health screening, testing, etc.).

Transfer Policy:

Transferring from one session to another after registration will incur a $15 processing fee.
