Rotten to the Core (June)

Sometimes it’s good to be bad! Sing, dance, and act your way toward becoming a triple threat. This week we combine all three elements of musical theatre to take on songs, dances, and scenes centering around the dramatic lives of the children of famous villains in the Disney film series Descendants! 

Full-day camp students should be sent to YTN with a packed lunch and two snacks that do not need to be in a refrigerator or microwaved.

Good to be Bad

Scenes from One Piece

Climb aboard The Going Merry and join the Straw Hat Pirates, me hearties! No landlubbers to be found here, as students learn to work together as a crew to create their own pirate-themed scenes and stories, inspired by the manga series, One Piece. Actors will make Captain Monkey D. Luffy beam with pride, while learning the basics of script work, character creation, and theatre.

In summer 2024, we are introducing a lunch add-on option for our half-day students in the K-2nd or 3rd-5th grade camps, you can extend camp time by adding lunchtime or create a full day!

Magic Quest Camp

7/1-7/3 (Mon-Wed), 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Grades 3rd-5th

Go on a journey of magic and adventure, whether we’re meeting some familiar faces or using our imaginations to brew up some magic of our very own! Students will learn the basics of acting, movement, and storytelling through magical lands of legend and adventure. There are characters to meet, problems to solve, and heroic deeds to do!

This Is Me

Run away with the circus and sing, dance, and act your way toward becoming a triple threat! This class combines all three elements of musical theatre and take on songs, dances, and scenes from the hit: The Greatest Showman. Acting, character work, and scene analysis come together under the big top to explore this modern classic.

Super Mario Adventures

7/1-7/3 (Mon-Wed), 1:00 - 4:00 pm (*)

Grades 3rd-5th

Let’s-a-GO! Join Mario, Luigi, and friends on an epic adventure across the Mushroom Kingdom! Students will study acting, movement, and character development as they create Peach-y original scenes based around the characters, settings, and stories from the classic video game that has delighted generations.

The Musical Madrigals

7/8-7/12, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

¡Hola casita! Embrace “All of You” to find your own inner, magical strength. This week we combine all three elements of musical theatre to take on songs, dances, and scenes from the musical hit Encanto... Just don’t talk about Bruno.

Scenes from Roald Dahl Stories

7/8-7/12, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (*)

Grades 3rd-5th

Fantastic foxes, undercover witches, giant peaches, bookworms, candy makers, and big friendly giants galore!  The worlds created by Roald Dahl have been captivating young audiences for generations. In this camp, students will study acting, movement, and character development based around familiar characters, settings, and stories from the beloved stories of Roald Dahl. Script analysis, character study, blocking, and scene partnering are just some of the skills that we will build on in this class.

Tales of the Monkey King

7/8-7/12, 1:00 - 4:00 pm (*)

Grades 3rd-5th

Journey West with The Monkey King and his companions, as students work together to bring this epic Chinese classic to life. Actors will work together to create their own scenes inspired by the ancient tale, as well as explore scripts of Monkey King adaptations over the years, like Disney’s American Born Chinese and YTN’s The Monkey King: Journey Westbound.

Scenes from Star Wars

7/15-7/19, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Grades 3rd-5th

Do, or do not, there is no try. So, may the Force be with us as we create our own out-of-this-world scenes inspired by the Star Wars universe. Students will study acting, movement, and character development in a galaxy far, far away.

PlayLab

7/15-7/19, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Grades 3rd-8th

In YTN's PlayLab, students will work together to make a script come to life. These young actors are going delve into a brand-new work! Using only minimal design elements in their final performance, PlayLab puts the focus on the story for this introduction to stage acting. Students will learn character development, script analysis, and acting fundamentals to produce a one-act script performance for the last day of class for students who want more performance opportunities throughout the season.

Performance Series: A Midsummer Night's Dream

7/22-8/3, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm**

Grades 4th-12th

The YTN Performance Series: everyone is cast and the session culminates in a full production. Students work together for two weeks with YTN super-star educator Amy J. Ferguson to create basic production elements using items from home, YTN stock, and their own creations. The adventure changes every session keeping us on our toes and presenting endless opportunities for creative problem solving and teamwork.

This summer, Performance Series takes on William Shakespeare’s most popular play – A Midsummer Night's Dream. Set in Athens, this play follows the conflict amongst two couples and the rehearsal of a group of amateur actors, while both groups get caught up in the drama of some feuding fairies.

**Shows at 7pm on Friday 8/2 and Saturday 8/3. Actors arrive at 6pm.

Best of Disney

7/22-7/26, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Grades 3rd-5th

We will cover “The Bare Necessities” as we combine all three elements of musical theatre and take on songs, dances, and scenes from the best of Disney classics. We invite you to “Be our guest” as we venture into “A Whole New World” to discover the musical magic of Disney.

We Know the Way

7/29-8/2, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Catch the musical wave with Moana and see how far we’ll go! This week we combine all three elements of musical theatre and take on songs, dances, and scenes from Moana. We will explore the islands and oceans full of fantastic characters like Moana, Pua, Maui, and Te Ka to create a volcanic sharing of work for the last day!

Inro to Acting

7/29-8/2, 1:00 - 4:00 pm (*)

 What does my character want? How do they move? These are just some of the questions we’ll ask as we learn the basics of stagecraft. Students will study acting, movement, and character development. Script analysis, character study, blocking, and scene partnering are just some of the valuable acting skills that we will build on in this class.

Adventures at Hogwarts

 Hop aboard the Hogwarts Express and prepare to explore new magical stories set in the wizarding world. Students will study acting, movement, and character development based around familiar characters, settings, and stories from the beloved book series. Script analysis, character study, blocking, and scene partnering are just some of the valuable acting skills that we will build on in this class.

Shakespeare Shake-Up

For centuries, the stories woven by Shakespeare have delighted audiences – whether in their original forms (like Hamlet) or creative retellings (like The Lion King). Films like She’s The Man (Twelfth Night) or Gnomeo and Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) take inspiration from the bard, but now there’s also retellings of popular movies like Mean Girls (Much Ado About Mean Girls) or even Shakespearean Star Wars, that bring Elizabethan style to modern audiences. In this camp, we’ll explore it all – in this totally fetch introduction to William Shakespeare.

Comedy Improv

Love to crack up your family and friends? Ready to take your gift for comedy to the next level? In this class, students will hone improv skills through games and exercises designed to get you thinking on your feet, working as an ensemble, and gaining confidence as you discover--it’s okay to fail. (But be sure to fail two more times too - rule of 3's!)

Scenes from Studio Ghibli

From Totoro to Kiki, from Ponyo to Princess Mononoke, the magical tales of Studio Ghibli films have been enchanting audiences for generations. Using these beloved stories as inspiration, students will work together to create their own scenes, while honing acting and storytelling skills, that are sure to leave you feeling Spirited Away…just watch out for moving castles!

Cabaret Showcase

8/19-8/23, 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Grades 5th-12th

Under the coaching of YTN faculty, students will hone acting and singing skills while working together to create a fabulous showcase of monologue and song performances for families at the end of the week. This is a great opportunity for students auditioning for the YTN school-year season to hone audition material under industry professionals!

Refund & Cancellation Policy:

YTN will refund tuition less the 25% non-refundable deposit (up to $100) for registrations cancelled at least 1 week prior to the start of a class or camp. Registrations cancelled less than a week prior to the start date will not be refunded. 

YTN reserves the right to cancel a class (in instances of insufficient enrollment or for other reasons out of the organization's control). In this case, any tuition paid will be refunded in full, including the registration fee. YTN will notify families 1 week prior to the beginning of class if cancellation is necessary.

No refund or make-up dates will be provided for classes cancelled due to inclement weather.

Covid-19 Specific Cancelation Policies:

If government guidelines change or if quarantine is required, YTN classes and camps automatically transfer to an online format. Refunds will not be granted in this case or in cases where families wish to withdraw due to changing Covid policies (such as mask mandates, health screening, testing, etc.).

Transfer Policy:

Transferring from one session to another after registration will incur a $15 processing fee.
