Covid-19 Response Timeline

Youth Theatre Northwest remains committed to providing quality arts education and enrichment, while adhering to the current public health restrictions and guidelines. As always, the health and safety of our students, teaching artists, and staff remain our top priority. With Phases of Reopening taking effect, YTN will adhere to those guidelines concerning distancing, cleaning, and safety. 

While our offices are still physically closed, we are up and running online.

We know our students and families (as well as ourselves) are eager to know what’s going to happen this summerWe are working on multiple plans and below you will find a schedule for when we will announce our new plans, based on what is feasible within the current and projected guidelines. 

ALL DECISIONSUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME,
as new information is released from the Governor’s Office.  


SUMMER CAMPS 

If YTN is able to provide in-person camp experiences this summer, many precautions will be taken to ensure everyone’s safety. We will be following Washington State Health Department Guidelines where applicable. Safety measures include, but are not limited to: requiring face masks, limiting camp sizes, shorter sessionsstaggered arrival and departure times, maximizing air flow where possible, frequently utilizing outdoor spaces, and rigorous, regular cleaning. 
June 29 - July 10: YTN will be offering camps online only.

July 13 - August 28: YTN plans to offer camps both online and in-person, if government guidelines allow, and with safety precautions in effect. 

Onsite precautions include (but are not limited to):   

  • check-in will take place at the student’s car where staff will verify completed screening  
  • limiting session sizes (per 90 minute sessions
    • Up to 6 students- PreK/Grades K-2nd
    • Upt to 8 students- Grades 3rd-5th 
    • Up to 10 students- Grades 6+
    • Up to 14 students - Performance Series/Shakespeare Intensive
  • classroom materials will not be shared amongst students until cleaned 
  • shorter session times to limit long-term exposure risk 
  • staggered arrival and departure times to limit number families on-site  
  • each group has own assigned zone with its classroom, restroom, and outdoors space. 
  • maximizing air flow where/when possible  
  • rigorous, regular cleaning following CDC guidelines
  • the playground will remain closed 
  • groups will utilize outdoor areas as much as possible 
  • musical theatre classes will have video instruction to view and rehearse at home. No singing will happen in-person. 
  • students be delivered to their vehicle after class, no sign-out on campus. 


SUMMER STOCK PRODUCTIONS

YTN will be taking many precautions to ensure the safety of their casts, production teams, and audiences. Including, but not limited to, requiring facemasks to be worn at all times, staggered call times, utilizing outdoor spaces whenever possible, and rigorous, regular cleaning.
If Washington State restrictions drop back down to a previous phase level after rehearsals have begun, but before the opening of a play, the production will be postponed to summer 2021.

Shrek Jr. 
Production postponed until Summer 2021
Disney’s Aristocats KIDS 
Decision will be announced by July 22 
This pushes the rehearsal start date of Aristocats to Monday, August 3, with four performances between August 22 & 29. Aristocats can perform under Phase 3 (gatherings under 50 people) of reopening, with limited audiences, if necessary.
Men On Boats 
Decision will be announced by July 22 
Men On Boats can perform under Phase 3 (gatherings under 50 people) of reopening, with limited audiences, if necessary.
Summer of Horror 
Decision will be announced by July 22 
Summer of Horror’s first filming week is pushed back to August 3rd - 7th. The second two filming weeks are unchanged. Summer of Horror can film under Phase 3 (gatherings under 50 people) or Phase 4 (gatherings over 50 people) of reopening.
