Little Red Robin Hood
By Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus
The YTN Performance Series: everyone is cast and the session culminates in a full production. Students work with educators to create basic production elements using items from home, YTN stock, and their own creations. Sometimes we share the stage with another show, sometimes it’s all our own: the adventure changes every session, keeping us on our toes and presenting endless opportunities for creative problem solving and teamwork.
We’ve all seen fractured fairy tales before, but never quite like this one, which takes a hilarious detour through Robin Hood’s Nottingham and Sherwood Forest! Leave it to the dream team of Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus, writers of multiple scripts for Disney, to come up with a fresh, hysterical twist on characters we all know. Smart, pretty, and kind, Little Red Robin Hood must deal with the Big Bad Sheriff of the Naughty Hams (the Three Little Pigs, that is!), who do the bidding of Prince John, the vain Emperor who is eager to try on his magic new suit being woven by Cinderella’s deceitful stepsisters. With Humpty Dumpty, Black Sheep, Rose Red, and Simple Simon acting as her Merry Men, Little Red Robin Hood must save all the village grannies of Sherwood Forest, including her own, an old woman who lives in a shoe, Mother Hubbard, and Mother Goose herself. Along the way, she also wins the heart of the Pied Piper — aka Marion — who’s a touring celebrity musician with an armload of different Mary’s as groupies.
Masked, distanced, and unique! If government guidelines change or if quarantine is required, these classes will automatically transfer to an online format.

*YTN has a tiered cost structure.
Cost Tiers Explained:
Tier I - True Cost. True costs covers: the educator classroom time, their class prep time, administrative work, and the YTN permanent staff all of which are essential in bringing you the high-quality program you expect. By choosing Tier I, you help our donation dollars stretch, keeping our doors open and allowing us to provide valuable theatre programming for more children and offer our Scholarship Rate to those in need.
Tier II - Direct Cost. Direct cost covers the educator rates for the duration of class time only.
Tier III – Reduced Cost. This price does not reflect the true cost of producing this class, but we know that the financial impact of sheltering in place has impacted some of our families more than others. A creative outlet is essential for our youth to cope with their drastically changed world and YTN will be there for them.
If this reduced rate is still too high, please contact Stephanie.
YTN will not turn any families away due to financial hardship.
